About
Friends of the Family (FOF) is a private, non-profit victim advocacy agency serving Northeast Iowa. Friends of the Family provides emergency safe shelter for persons affected by domestic violence and sexual assault in 14 counties (Allamakee, Benton, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Howard, Linn, Jones, and Winneshiek) in NE Iowa, and transitional housing and permanent supportive housing for homeless families and individuals in 9 counties of NE Iowa. Friends of the Family also provides violence prevention education to students and community groups in Bremer, Butler, and Chickasaw Counties in Iowa. Our agency employs 28 full-time staff, 7 part-time staff, and over 200 volunteers and interns annually. Since we serve 15 counties across Northeast Iowa, and provide assistance to hundreds of families and individuals, we rely heavily on volunteers and donors to make our services top-notch. Any contributions, whether it be monetary, non-monetary, or simply helping us get the word out about families' needs, make huge difference in the amount of people we are able to reach with our services. FOF provides safe and confidential services to families and individuals experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and homelessness through advocacy, housing assistance, and crisis services. Through community engagement and prevention education, we seek a future free of violence and homelessness.
