NH LAKES is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the mission of which is to keep New Hampshire's lakes clean and healthy, now and in the future. We work with partners, promote clean water policies and responsible use, and inspire the public to care for our lakes. We're different from a local lake association because we work for clean lakes all across the state.
We have created this page to introduce ourselves to fellow professionals and companies whose missions may be aligned or whose marketplace of customers or constituents we may have in common. Our funding comes from grants, individual donations, and member dues (from both local lake and watershed associations and individuals), as well as from businesses who wish to invest in our cause and be associated with our good works.
NH LAKES implements education programs like the Lake Host Program, in which over 700 people (both paid and volunteers) staff publicly-accessible boat ramps to educate boaters about how they can prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. NH LAKES also works in the public policy and legislative arena, advocating for lake protection based on sound science and our goal of conserving the many values of our lakes.
NH LAKES is governed by a volunteer, dedicated Board of Directors and has a professional year-round staff in its Concord, NH office.
