The founding company, United Electronics Institute, was formed in October 1982, in Los Angeles County, California. The name was changed to United Education Institute (UEI) in 1989 to reflect a broadening of the scope of training provided. Today, UEI has 7 campuses located in California at Los Angeles, Van Nuys, Huntington Park, Ontario, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Chula Vista. During 1996, IEC acquired Advanced Career Training (ACT), a career training school headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. This company has been in operation since 1975 offering courses in travel and tourism at three training centers located in Atlanta and Riverdale, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida. ACT's offerings have been expanded to include Allied Health Care and Computer Sciences.
