Simpson Dura-Vent is a supplier of venting products for homes. We will participate and benefit from the re-building efforts. We also expect additional sales this fall because of the real and anticipated costs of natural gas and fuel oil. We sell products that help our customers heat their homes, this winter, with alternative forms of energy (namely, wood, pellets, and corn). You, as well, will benefit from our increased business. My message is "don't raise your prices" without justification and clarity. Speculation is not justification. Furthermore, speculative buying of potentially scarce resources needs to be managed and controlled. Fed-Ex freight, for example, announced that they will hold their fuel surcharges to pre-Katrina rates until the end of September. I applaud their timely, ethical response to this crisis. Our country needs our collective services and support, not price increases. You can expect added volumes of business from Simpson Dura-Vent and others and perhaps you can delay your price increases on the justification of added sales volumes. Let's, collectively, allow this short-term crisis some time to heal and clarify while we serve our citizens. Please join our company by delaying your price increases and allow us all the time to determine the real, permanent changes to our world. At that time, we can all adjust, together.
