In 1995, long-time friends and colleagues Jeff Conley, Ron DeFore and Diane Steed sat in a restaurant putting the finishing touches on their plans to go into business together. As they considered unique names that stood out from the pack, Strat@comm - for "strategic at communications" - emerged as the favorite in an informal focus group of restaurant waiters…and the die was cast. With that, a new company and a unique culture were born. That humble start was the beginning of a vision Conley, DeFore and Steed shared to create a positive, collaborative work environment that would allow employees to do quality work, be true to themselves and have a great time doing it. From day one, they selected their team not only based upon experience and ability, but also on less tangible criteria like good chemistry and motivation. Then and now, Strat@comm fosters a climate to help employees succeed by providing them with hands-on guidance and mentoring, access to the best technology and equipment, well-managed operations, and generous benefits and compensation. The company's profit-sharing program has netted employees an extra month's salary in bonus money seven out of the eight years in business. Conley, DeFore and Steed have always recognized that clients are the ultimate beneficiaries of a team that loves their work. Likewise, making sure the client always came first was another top priority when they started the company.
