WWO transforms the lives of children, families, and communities in need through trauma-informed, evidence-based programming for vulnerable children, increasing confidence, self- esteem, and sense of belonging in seriously ill children, and by giving out-of-school youth and adults the skills and opportunity to lead structured play.
In 2019, WWO served more than 8,000 children and caregivers in Bulgaria, Ethiopia, Haiti, the United States, and Vietnam through the following programs:
• Element of Play®
Our signature prescriptive play program helps children reach their developmental milestones in the area
of communication, social-emotional, fine and gross motor skills, and cognition, while strengthening the bond with their caregivers.
• Camps for Children Living with Serious Illness
In partnership with SeriousFun Children’s Network, our camps increase confidence, self-esteem and sense of belonging in seriously ill children. They also have the lifesaving benefit of getting HIV positive children to take their antiretroviral (ARV) medication consistently and independently.
• Skills Development
Our skills development program provides out-of-school youth and adults with the skills and opportunity to lead structured play programs.
Our innovative programming breaks down stigma and builds critical life skills for marginalized children to thrive. When children learn to overcome challenges, they make tremendous progress in becoming strong, successful adults.
