Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) is the flagship hospital of the Santa Clara Valley Health & Hospital System. The mission of SCVMC is to provide quality and comprehensive care from community based prevention services to primary and acute care to the transition of maintaining health at home. SCVMC includes an acute care inpatient hospital with 574 licensed beds, 8 regional clinics providing primary care and a specialty center offering a wide-range of specialty services. SCVMC has the county's busiest Emergency Department (ED) with over 75,000 visits and is accredited by The Joint Commission. The ED is a Level 1 Trauma Center for both adults and children, and is home to the county's only Sexual Assault Response Team. The community's only public hospital collaborates with other public agencies to prepare for disasters that may affect all residents of the community. SCVMC has a nationally recognized and accredited Rehabilitation Center, providing care for complex brain and spinal cord injuries and strokes. The Burn Center leads in providing comprehensive care from injury to rehabilitation, and is verified by the American College of Surgeons and the American Burn Association. Regional specialty services provided by SCVMC include women's and children's health: labor and delivery, neonatology and pediatrics.
