About
SafetySpect was formed to develop and commercialize advanced optical sensing technology suited for market applications in the food industry. Our focus is on the analysis of safety, quality, fraud, adulteration, and traceability. Devices for deployment include handheld scanners with proprietary advanced optical sensing technology. ur corporate technology rollout pathway is to deliver advanced technology for users across the food supply chain, from producers to processors, to retailers and restaurants. SafetySpect systems are designed to operate in real-time for immediate risk detection, thereby limiting risks from safety incidents (intentional, and non-intentional), with reduced testing costs and enhanced brand preservation with sensor driven imaging technology vs. costly legacy laboratory-based testing. The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and SafetySpect Inc. have joined resources and expertise to collaboratively develop food technology that promotes a systems approach for enhancing detection of adulterated/counterfeit food and ensuring authenticity and reliability of products in the food supply chains. We have a formal Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) in place since April 2018 to develop multiple technologies/tools ensuring the safety and quality of food products and for detecting hazardous materials in food products or their distribution systems.
