About
Northeast Independent Living Program (NILP) is an Independent Living Center (ILC) run by and for people with disabilities. We provide advocacy and services to all people with disabilities who wish to live independently in the community. We believe in an Independent Living Philosophy, which states that individuals with disabilities are the best determinants of their own needs and services. Through role modeling and peer counseling, with other individuals with disabilities, they become more empowered to make changes in their lives to become more self-sufficient and self-reliant. As an Independent Living Center, we are required to offer five basic core services: Information and Referral, Peer Support, Skills Training, Transition Services, and Advocacy. Although we have a wide variety of programs and services, each of them aligns with one or more of these 5 core services. All of our services (except for our training and consulting division) are offered for free. At NILP, we are always happy to hear from people who would like to join our our organization. For an Application for Employment, currently available job positions, and more information, please visit our Careers page on our website at: https://www.nilp.org/careers. Persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. NILP is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that receives federal, state and private funding. We were incorporated in 1980 and have been providing services for 40 years.
