We are the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael, a congregation of Catholic sisters (sometimes referred to as nuns). We strive to be faithful to the vision of St. Dominic, to our charism to preach the Gospel with our lives, as well as our words, and to our mission of bringing the Gospel to bear with depth and compassion on the critical issues of our times. Since 1850 the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael have been a vital part of the history and development of California, its people, and its church. We have established convents, schools, and hospitals throughout California and Nevada. We are committed to the Mission of Dominic. St. Dominic left a legacy of breadth of vision, extraordinary compassion, incredible zeal, firm hope and spontaneous joy. As living examples of St. Dominic's faith, we embrace diversity of expression and encourage each sister to discover and develop her God given gifts and talents for the sake of mission. You’ll find us in health care facilities, schools, social service agencies, retreat centers and parishes.
