About
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service.\n\nMaking Derbyshire a safer place to live, work and visit.\n\nDerbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) provides a wide range of services, often in partnership and collaboration with others, to the people who live, work and visit the county and aim to achieve excellence in all that we do.\n\nThe Service is required to assess the risks to the communities of Derbyshire and to plan for emergencies accordingly. The Service is available to respond to calls across Derbyshire every minute of every day and work hard to reduce the risks of fires, road traffic collisions and other emergency incidents across the county through our prevention activities.\n\nThe work of the Service is split into three main categories; prevention, protection and response. \n\nDFRS covers over 1,000 square miles, which includes a variety of urban and rural communities with a population of approximately 780,000. However, we are also required to plan for and attend emergencies across the borders as part of a national response to emergencies. \n\nThe Service employs over 800 personnel which is made up of over 300 Full-Time Firefighters, over 330 On-Call Firefighters, around 30 Control Staff and over 170 Support Staff. The Service has a total of 31 fire stations based in strategic locations to provide appropriate cover within the local area.
