The Hawkins story began in 1922 when Kenneth Hawkins and his brother Earl bid on and were awarded the construction contract for what is now Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1960, Kenneth and his son Fred incorporated the business into what is now Hawkins Construction Company. Some of their first major projects included the construction of the Omaha Missouri River Sewage Treatment Plant and the 63 bridge piers on I-480 in downtown Omaha. By the late 1960’s, Hawkins Construction had gross revenue of over $23 million.
