About
The Wage Inspectorate is an independent statutory authority that helps Victorians work better. We're responsible for promoting and enforcing compliance with Victorian laws covering wage theft, long service leave, child employment and owner drivers and forestry contractors. We give practical advice, information and support to employees, employers and contractors. We also investigate non-compliance with the law and can take action against employers who break the rules. We are unable to provide specific information or advice via social media. If you have a question about your circumstances, get in touch with us via the website www.wageinspectorate.vic.gov.au. This page is designed to help Victorians understand their general rights and obligations under the laws we enforce. On our social media pages, we will: • remove any inappropriate, defamatory or offensive comments, including any content that is discriminatory, bullying, illegal or potentially illegal, fraudulent, misleading, spam or advertising, relates to an investigation or legal matter, contains personal or sensitive information, or links to a non-government page • leave any comments from you that comply with our rules and relate to the subjects covered on the page. These pages are a public forum, but please use your discretion when you post. If it is not something you would say at work in front of a group of peers, do not post it on our page. We ask that you respect the privacy of others when posting on our page. Please be aware that making comments about your employer, even if you don’t name them, can in some cases be a breach of your contract, or may be defamatory. Think before you post.
