AmeriPride Linen and Apparel Service and AmeriPride Uniform Service, formerly known as American Linen Supply Co., was founded in 1889. George A. Steiner worked his way through high school delivering towels throughout Lincoln, Nebraska for a local laundry. With foresight on the impact of quality service, he subsequently purchased the towel business from his employer for $50.80. The business grew and George formed a partnership with his brother Frank. Together they made deliveries from a hand cart they pushed through the city streets. With the brothers’ focus on integrity and customer satisfaction the hand cart was soon replaced by a horse-drawn wagon. From Lincoln the business was expanded to Minneapolis, Minnesota and Vancouver, British Columbia. Still owned and actively managed by the founding family, the company has grown into a multi-national organization operating 196 production facilities and service centers throughout the United States and Canada. Today, AmeriPride services over 200,000 customers each week. The company is counted among the five largest garment service and linen supply companies in North America.
