CareFlite was established in 1979 making it the eighth air medical transportation program in the nation and the second in Texas. Originally, one helicopter was shared between Methodist Dallas Hospital and Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital handling 20 patients each month. In 1981, CareFlite started a ground division in the city of Dallas to help support the helicopters and provide non-emergency transportation for the supporting hospitals.CareFlite Address
