The Health Promotion Agency (HPA) is a Crown entity established on 1 July 2012 under the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000.

Our Mission: To inspire all New Zealanders to lead healthy lives.
HPA’s current work contributes to the Government’s health targets and key health initiatives across the major issues of alcohol, minimising gambling harm, immunisation, nutrition and physical activity, mental health, skin cancer prevention and tobacco control. HPA is also frequently asked to work on new Government health promotion initiatives and also manages the Ministry of Health’s resources catalogue.
