About
The Alameda County Office of Education is a complex organization. Operating Juvenile Court and Community Schools and special education is one component of a larger body of work at ACOE. Our total budget reflects a broad responsibility to students, teachers, and administrators throughout Alameda County. In addition to operating the Court and Community Schools, ACOE provides direct and indirect services to approximately 225,000 students in Alameda County; professional development and support for thousands of teachers and administrators across Alameda and adjacent counties; as well as a wide range of business and technology services, human resource and credentialing services, and communication support to the County's 18 school districts. ACOE also provides leadership in regional education programs and is the liaison between districts and the State, as well as between districts and universities/colleges. ACOE's responsibilities increased due to state legislation; directives from the California Department of Education; and the impact of federal legislation on states, local communities and districts. Our financial stability, strategic partnerships and leveraging of resources has allowed ACOE staff to focus on improving and broadening services to our students and our client districts.
