United States National Committee (USNC) for UN Women is an official partner to UN Women, serving as one of its 15 national committees. Our organization has supported UN Women project work since 1983, initiatives now spanning more than 100 countries around the globe. Primarily focused on fundraising, our organization engages the private sector as well as high net worth individuals and their foundations, to continue creating sustainable funding streams for the UN Women's Core Fund. UN Women was created on July 2, 2010 by the United Nations General Assembly as the UN Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women. It represents the merger of four previously distinct parts of the UN system, such as UNIFEM. UN Women is the global champion for gender equality, working to develop and uphold standards and create an environment in which every woman and girl can exercise her human rights and live up to her full potential.
