National Salon Resources was founded as National Beauty Supply by Beril Goldstein in 1930. Beril owned and operated the company until he passed away in 1969. At that time, Barbara Mitchell Christie and her husband Lee Mitchell, who both worked at Helene Curtis purchased the company. Lee Mitchell served as president and Barbara Christie served as vice president. Barbara Christie was named president when Lee Mitchell passed away in 1978. This is the same year Mike Hicks, Barbara Christie's grandson, joined the company. In 1992, Mike was named CEO and changed the company name from National Beauty Supply to National Salon Resources.
