MISSION STATEMENT
Provide support, advocacy and education in order to improve the quality of life of individuals with mental illness and their families.
WHO WE ARE:
Established in 1985, NAMI DuPage is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit mental health organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families in DuPage County that are affected by mental illness. The organization has evolved into the county’s leading voice on mental health issues by providing free supportive services programs to individuals and families coping with mental disabilities including support groups, one-on-one peer counseling, drop-in centers, and a resource helpline. In addition, the organization raises awareness and understanding about mental illness through community education programs, directed to law enforcement, hospital staff, faith-based leaders, library personnel and schools, and hospital outreach services (in partnership with all six DuPage County hospitals). In 2015, the organization served more than 34,000 unduplicated individuals.
NAMI DuPage operates as a financially independent organization and does not receive any direct financial support from the national or state NAMI organizations. Nor does it receive any federal or state funding. Rather, NAMI DuPage relies on the remarkable generosity of the community for operational and program support.
