Silver Key was created in 1970 by a group of conscientious citizens who wished to improve the quality of life for those in nursing homes. Silver Key officially opened its doors in October of 1971 with grant monies awarded by the Older Americans Act. Not long after that Silver Key felt the need to broaden its mission and include seniors who desperately desired to remain home and out of nursing homes. This is the concept that Silver Key operates on today, to assist seniors and help them remain in the least restrictive setting, preferably at home, for as long as possible. Today, Silver Key provides approximately 10,000 services a year, providing clients with individualized care to empower them to retain their independence and safety.
