Francis J. Weinaug founded the firm in Olean, New York in 1971. Since then the firm has experienced steady growth. The firm opened a second office in Jamestown, New York in 1978. In 1993, the firm merged with John F. Whipple, Jr., CPA. In February 1999, the firm acquired GFC Business Systems, a full-service payroll company providing payroll services to clients around the country; in August 2004 the firm formed the multi-faceted business and consulting affiliate, Vineyard Group, LLC; and in July 2005 a joint venture, BWB Bergquist, was formed between Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, P.C. and Malin, Bergquist & Company, LLP, of Erie and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to expand the professional team on behalf of clients and to provide enhanced services to the insurance industry.
