Founded in 1997, Casa de Amistad is a non-profit organization that provides education and character development programs for over 260 underserved dual-language children and their families in coastal North County San Diego.
Our cornerstone Study Companions Program pairs 300+ trained tutor/mentor volunteers with students in grades K-12 to help with homework, improve reading & math skills and develop general study skills.
Additional programs include Pre-K and Summer Enrichment Programs as well as our DREAMS Technology initiative which seeks to close the digital divide for students and parents.
Casa also facilitates Career Pathway Workshops to help high school students explore and map pathways to future careers; Our Consortium of College Counselors uses a team of volunteers who are professional academic counselors to help navigate college & vocational school application processes, and who provide guidance in entrance exam preparations, essay writing, financial aid and scholarships.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE, ONE CHILD AT A TIME
Over the past two decades, teachers in our area schools have consistently seen an increase in homework completion and classroom participation, as well as improved grades and higher test scores among Casa's students.
100% of students from Casa de Amistad’s graduating high school class of 2019 have enrolled in post-secondary education including acceptance into some of California’s top universities!
New volunteers are always welcome.
For as little as 90 minutes per week during the school year, Casa's mentoring program allows community members to make an impact that can last a life time. http://casadeamistad.org/volunteer
