We are confronting one of the world’s oldest and most widespread human rights abuses: violence against women and girls (VAWG), which is especially prevalent in crisis and displacement contexts. We aim to challenge traditional, ineffectual methods of addressing violence in theses settings with a proven but chronically underused resource: of women and girls themselves.
We are skilled humanitarians. We have an extensive network of respected partners and decades of personal experience working in areas of the world grappling with conflict or struggling to recover from disaster. We have learned that the expertise and perspectives of women and girls in these settings (and their solutions to prevent, challenge and recover from violence) are scalable and applicable everywhere.
We are talented amplifiers. We enable those with power and resources to hear—to access, listen to, learn from, and act on—the voices of the best experts in this field—the local women’s and girls’ rights organizations who have been doing the work all along. VOICE connects women and girls, policy makers, donors, and researchers, giving women and girls a platform to take their efforts to scale.
Our approach, steeped in women’s rights practice, offers something new and necessary in the fight to end violence against women and girls.
The VOICE Vision: We are working towards a world where women and girls are respected leaders in designing and implementing solutions to eradicate violence—both in their communities and within the halls of power.
