About
While Gulf Coast residents were preparing for the impact of Hurricane Katrina, employees of Arkansas owned and operated Mountain Valley Spring Company were already working overtime to supply the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and local bottlers with pure spring water for the storm's aftermath. As of noon today, sixteen truckloads of Mountain Valley, Clear Mountain, and Diamond brands of water in various package sizes had left the company's Garland County spring site and bottling facility. The company has committed to supply at least an additional 18 truckloads of water within over the next 36 hours, according to Breck Speed, Mountain Valley Spring Company's Chairman & CEO. "We have a long history of supplying our water for relief efforts," Speed said. "Most of these particular shipments will go to FEMA warehouses, ready for transport to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama as conditions permit." Speed also noted the willingness of Mountain Valley employees to put in extra hours and effort to help with relief efforts. "We have been running extra shifts as needed and will continue to do so," he said. Mountain Valley Spring Company, America's oldest brand of bottled water, has been marketed nationally and internationally from its single spring source since 1871.
