Local Authority for Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh areas with a coastline of 26 miles and parts of the Kent North Downs. The council provides a range of services including planning applications, housing, benefits, council tax and licensing.
Residents elect 30 councillors every four years and these councillors set the priorities for the district and make decisions, many of which are debated first at meetings that are open to the public.
The day-to-day running of the council is managed by the chief executive and heads of departments and carried out by staff known as council officers.
