With offices in New York City, Washington, DC, and Boston, Silman presently numbers 165, which includes over 50 engineers with professional registration and more than 20 with LEED accreditation or green associate status.\n\nSilman has developed a special expertise in the engineering of historic buildings – the firm has consulted on more than 400 registered landmark buildings. At the same time, new construction accounts for 50% of its workload. Experience with both historic and modern structures has taught Silman engineers which technologies work best -- they understand both new and old construction, are well versed in the use of all materials, and are prepared to create new structural systems to support the design of a project.\n\nSilman promotes environmentally responsible design and has long advocated sustainable approaches.
