Harvard Library has supported research and discovery at Harvard since 1638. Today, it is the largest academic library in the world. There are more than 70 individual libraries that are part of our Harvard Library system, and our collections include digital and audio/visual material as well as print material such as books, manuscripts, maps, and photographs.
Harvard Library's mission is to make our resources, services, and librarian expertise accessible to the entire Harvard community; this includes advancing new ways of teaching and learning with library materials. We also aim to make our collections and our institutional knowledge accessible to and reflective of the broader public.
