EmPowerYu creates a personalized Home Life Record™ of integrated lifestyle and medical data for people in their homes, including people with physical, cognitive and technical limitations. By integrating data collected from behavioral, environmental, and medical sensors, the Home Life Record™ and associated visual graphics highlight the daily life patterns of the whole person, providing a ‘heartbeat of the home' for family and clinical caregivers. EmPowerYu is an open IoT platform of passive Smart Home technology, with proprietary software based on machine learning and our inference engine. People live their lives as usual at home, while the system automatically collects strategic data on activities and compares the current day to a historical baseline. Caregivers are alerted when deviations from normal patterns are cause for concern, and can choose to be notified when normal activities occur. Timely intervention and proactive care empowers vulnerable people to choose to live in the community more safely, and reduces avoidable medical costs. The data collected by EmPowerYu relieves people of the tedium and inaccuracy of self-reporting, and provides freedom from wearables, cameras, surveys, and smartphones. EmPowerYu supports aging in place with dignity. By providing accurate data for telehealth visits and measuring the need for services, remote patient monitoring has been shown to reduce healthcare costs and improve outcomes, and will support the desire of most older adults to live as long as possible in their own homes. Remote monitoring is projected to become central to healthcare and medical research. Right now EmPowerYu provides data to improve care for individuals. As we progress, we will build population and use case-specific databases to identify markers and provide early predictivity of the onset of disease episodes. We also envision creating a set of recovery profiles so doctors can see how their patient compares to a similar population.
