In 1946 Paul Schwartz was suffering. He was working in a New York City shoe store, when he began experiencing sharp heel pain. During a visit to a local Orthopedist, foot inserts were prescribed to provide relief. When his discomfort did not subside, Paul designed and fabricated his own arch supports and successfully relieved the pain. Less than six months later Paul Schwartz, along with his brother Charles, founded Apex Foot Health Industries. Their mission was to design, fabricate and supply state-of-the-art footcare products to the foot health community. Today, over 50 years later, their mission remains, and Apex continues to meet the ideals set by the company's founders.
