Houston Endowment is known for its culture and team of individuals that are deeply committed to the Foundation’s mission and passionate about making a difference in the Houston community.
With assets of over $1.8 billion, Houston Endowment makes grants to nonprofit organizations totaling approximately $70 million each year in order to enhance civic assets, strengthen systems that support residents, promote post-secondary success and build a stronger region.
Established by Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones in 1937, the foundation has a rich legacy of addressing some of Houston’s most compelling needs. Today the foundation continues efforts to create a vibrant community where all have the opportunity to thrive. We believe these two concepts are inextricably linked: A vibrant region attracts and engages a thriving, diverse population, which improves quality of life and creates greater opportunity for the people who live here. Equity of opportunity helps ensure that all individuals in our community can engage and thrive, thus creating a more vibrant region.
