If you have a mental illness and seek support, the Mental Illness Fellowship of Western Australia (MIFWA) can help. We offer comprehensive information and support services to people with mental illness, their carers, families and friends.
Information hub
We regularly update more than 30 fact sheets about mental illness diagnoses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorders, serious depression and anxiety disorders. There is also information about managing mental illness and navigating WA's legal and health service systems.
Find the right support service
Our Telephone Information & Referral Service operates Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm on 08 9237 8900. We can put you in touch with the right support services for your needs. This service includes access to a comprehensive Mental Illness Factsheet series.
Supporting recovery
Our Lorikeet Centre offers a positive and supportive environment for people with mental illness to work towards better health and recovery. Skills training and social and recreational activities
Supporting carers
We understand that mental illness affects both the individual and those close to them. That's why we offer support to carers and family through our our carer education program Well Ways, which is available in Perth as well as Fremantle and Rockingham/Kwinana with plans to expand further south, as well as to Mirrabooka, Joondalup and Clarkson and further north.
Community education
We work with individuals, families, carers, community groups, health services and government to promote understanding of mental illness in the community, reduce stigma and increase awareness of the rights of people with mental illness. We also advocate for meaningful mental health research.
