About
Alabama Eye Bank is becoming “Advancing Sight Network” to reflect its expanding services and continuing focus on its purpose, treating preventable blindness and developing new treatments for vision loss. For 50 years, Alabama Eye Bank has been dedicated to offering the very best corneal tissue for transplant and research from Alabama donors to its network of surgeons, hospitals, and global partners to restore sight to recipients in Alabama, the U.S., and around the world. Now as Advancing Sight Network, we are expanding our services, including enhancements in processing, growing our research efforts through establishing a biobank and creating a unique partnership model that preserves community eye banking. “Our goal with everything we do is to restore sight through donated tissue. We are excited to expand our impact and serve even more individuals who have lost the precious ability to see,” said Alan Blake, Advancing Sight Network President/CEO. “We can’t do this alone, which is why we created such a unique network of partners to protect and restore sight outside of Alabama, such as our partnership with Mid-South Eye Bank in Memphis. We are excited for the growth while maintaining the quality that made Alabama Eye Bank one of the best eye banks in the country.”
