About
Providence Speech and Hearing Center was founded in 1965 to provide Audiology and Hearing Care and Speech-Language Pathology to all people in need—regardless of their ability to pay. What began in a single room at a local hospital has grown to become one of the largest clinics of its kind in the country. As a Center of Excellence, we provide speech, audiology, and occupational therapy services to low-income families across Orange County. Our mission is: Enriching Life Through the Gifts of Speech and Hearing. Providence strives to achieve this mission by providing the highest quality services in the identification, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of speech, language, and hearing disorders for persons of all ages, races, and socio-economic backgrounds. Providence is the leading service provider to the speech and hearing impaired of Southern California, with nearly 120,000 patient visits each year. We are the only safety net clinic of its type in Southern California—providing comprehensive speech, language, and hearing services to low-income populations who are uninsured or underinsured. Approximately 64% of our work is dedicated to these low-income patients. We now have eight locations throughout Orange County and one in south Los Angeles County. In addition to speech and hearing, our services include pediatric occupational therapy, fall prevention and balance services, the Orange County Cochlear Implant Institute, and the Providence Preschool.
