Sterimedix was founded in 1989 by a group of private individuals who believed in the concept of single use surgical products for eye surgery. From early beginnings in a small office in the market town of Alcester in Warwickshire, the Company has grown to occupy a large and modern manufacturing facility in Redditch, Worcestershire. Dating back to the 16th century, Redditch is the traditional heart of the UK needle making industry and is still home to a number of medical device companies. The traditional skills and support functions still thrive in the local community and Sterimedix is proud of the part it plays in maintaining the local traditions. However, Sterimedix has developed on its core competence and now manufactures in modern cleanrooms millions of devices for eye surgery and aesthetic procedures each year using a mixture of hand skills and automated machinery. The Company sells its products through a network of specialised international distributors and wholesalers. It also provides OEM & OBL services to other manufacturers in the medical device arena. Sterimedix is proud of its heritage, but continues to invest in new products and new production methods. The Company operates a Quality Management System in keeping with its status as a manufacturer of medical devices. Its products are registered in all the major markets worldwide.
