About
Now in our 34th year, Cheshire Home is New Jersey's only free-standing special care facility for young adults with severe paralysis. The majority of our 35 residents have quadriplegia or paraplegia as the result of spinal cord injuries. Our goal is to facilitate, whenever possible, our residents’ successful transition into complete self-sufficiency. We accomplish this through a broad scope of services and programs that encompass the physical, emotional, social and educational needs of each resident. Services include: 24-hour nursing and personal care assistance; state-of-the-art physical therapy; academic and employment training utilizing adaptive technology; job opportunities; and transportation to college and work. Residents achieve self-determined lifestyles while at Cheshire, and then move on to independence beyond our facility. Expanding our scope of services, we also operate two small community-based homes for adults with disabilities who can live semi-independently, Cheshire II in Parsippany, and Cheshire III in Florham Park. These homes offer private rooms within a communal environment, for adults with disabilities who can live semi-independently. We invite you to visit our website at www.cheshirehome.org!
