About
The forerunner of Stillwater Milling Company was the Thomas and Plummer Perfection Mills, which was established in 1891 to mill wheat into flour and corn into corn meal for use in the home. In 1906, Stillwater Mill & Elevator Company was incorporated by the Babcock family. During this time, flour was milled and sold under the label of "Stillwater's Best Flour". In 1918, Andy Goodholm purchased the company and added a second line of home flour products called "Good Home Flour". The business did well, and was expanded to include the manufacture of A&M Livestock Feeds, named after Goodholm and his wife, Mandy. Stillwater Milling Company began to manufacture formula feeds for livestock and poultry in 1922. The formula feed business continued to grow through the years because of the large agricultural population in North Central Oklahoma. With the family flour business in decline in the 1950's, the decision was made to close the flour mill operation and concentrate on animal feed products. The feed and grain operations were expanded in Oklahoma and adjoining states. This decision has been the main thrust of Stillwater Milling Company to the present time. In recent years, Stillwater Milling Company has established branch operations in Davis, Claremore and Perry, Oklahoma. A large general farm store, the Agri-Center, was established in Stillwater in August of 1975, and this concept has been incorporated in the other three locations. The Agri-Centers not only handle A&M Feeds, but products for farming and ranching operations, such as fencing, livestock handling equipment and animal health supplies. Stillwater Milling Company receives grain during harvest at all of our locations. Wheat is our largest cash crop, but with the addition of the elevator at Claremore, we now receive milo, soybeans and corn. Our combined elevator capacity for grain is over 1 million bushels. In our feed plant, we now have three 300 horsepower Landers pellet mills, which are capable of producing 25 tons of cubes per hour each. We also have three other pellet mills which make it possible to produce 1800 tons of pellets or cubes per day on a 2-shift (18 hour) day. In addition, we have a sweet feed plant that adds 300 tons of textured feed to the daily tonnage, for a combined total of about 2100 tons per day.
