The Orange-Ulster Board of Cooperative Educational Services provides an instructional service to the component districts through the use of shared teachers. This program provides teachers and administrators with support services, which enhance and upgrade educational programs. All services are operated in accordance with Education Law and Commissioners Regulations. At present, BOCES is offering shared professional services in the following areas:Blind and Visually ImpairedDeaf and Hearing ImpairedEnglish Language Learner (ESL)Nurse PractitionersIn a single district, the maximum share of the service listed above is equivalent to 60% of full time or three days per week. There is no maximum share of service for Teachers of the Blind and Visually Impaired and English as a Second Language. Each position is shared among two or more districts and is full time for the ten month school year, unless otherwise identified. Programs of service to pupils with limited English proficiency are eligible for LEP aid and are not eligible for BOCES aid. Programs of services to Blind and Visually Impaired students are eligible for excess cost aid and are not eligible for BOCES aid.
