Security State Bank of Glencoe was chartered and authorized to commence business on October 10, 1935. The new bank purchased the building formerly owned by the Bank of Glencoe. The first employees were A.W. Hoese, President; Frank J. Heaney, Cashier; Howard Hoese, Bookkeeper and Dorothy Heaney, Stenographer. In 1948 an expansion program was completed to take over additional office space in the Frank Gaines Store. In 1957 and 1958 when deposits had reached $4 million, an extensive expansion program was undertaken into the remainder of the Gaines store which doubled the size of the banking quarters.
