The American Arbitration Association is available to resolve a wide range of disputes through mediation, arbitration, elections and other out-of-court settlement procedures. The history, mission and not-for-profit status of the AAA are unique in the field of alternative dispute resolution. While many of the more than 230,255 cases administered by the American Arbitration Association in 2002 were resolved through mediation or arbitration, less formal methods of dispute resolution -- such as fact-finding, mini-trial and partnering -- are clearly coming into wider use.
