The Finance Department manages the financial operations of the City of Sedalia. Across all budgets and funds, the city spends in excess of $25 million a budget year and the Finance Director is responsible for accounting for those funds in a manner consistent with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
The Department is responsible for daily management of all financial services including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, investing city funds and preparing financial statements for City Council and public record. The Finance Department processes payment of invoices and issues checks for all 15 departments, accounts for all revenue received by the city and processes payroll and issues checks for the city's 200 full-time and approximately 75 part-time and seasonal employees.
The Finance Department includes the collections and licensing function of City government and Sedalia's Municipal Court office.
