The Porter Fire Department was first established in 1962 as a volunteer fire department which has continued to grow serving the residents of East Montgomery County. In 1988, the Montgomery County Emergency Services District #6 was established and is governed by the Commissioners Court. We are responsible for both fire suppression and EMS – first responder services to the community. MCESD#6 receives its funding at the rate of .10 cents for every 100.00 dollars of property valve as regulated by the Texas Constitution, and a half-cent sales tax on applicable sales transactions in the district. The fire district has 4 stations; two of the stations have a combination of both paid staff and volunteer members along with ladies auxiliary, and 15 apparatus units.
