The Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center is a nationally recognized leader in the effort to end domestic violence and provide care for victims. For over 35 years, we have been providing advocacy and support services to families and the communities within the Greater Newburyport area. Our mission is to empower individuals and engage communities to end domestic violence.
The Center provides a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week crisis hotline, legal advocacy, emergency and transitional shelter, counseling and support to victims of domestic violence in the communities we serve. In 2014 alone, we helped more than 1,300 victims of domestic violence, both adults and children.
Our staff and executive leadership are widely sought after to consult and contribute expert knowledge to various local, state and national initiatives, and our nationally acclaimed Domestic Violence High Risk Team Model is widely recognized as a promising practice to prevent domestic violence homicide. The Center also provides education, training, and technical assistance about domestic violence to schools, law enforcement, other domestic violence service providers and the greater community.
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and are thankful to be supported by generous businesses and individuals in our community who join us in our goal to end domestic violence. We are respectful of how these monies are put to use: almost 90% of these funds serving the direct needs of the families we support.
If you are a victim of domestic violence, we are just a phone call away, 978-388-1888.
