Randall Bearings, Inc., headquartered in Lima, Ohio, recently announced the planned location of a new manufacturing facility in Coldwater, Ohio. This facility will focus on manufacturing machined parts for the "Motion Fluid Power" industries. The new facility is targeted to begin operations by fall 2005. Randall Bearings, Inc. was originally formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1906 and came to Lima, Ohio, in 1949. Since that time, the company has gone through several transformations. Starting in the late 1960s, Randall's main thrust has been in the manufacturing of bronze machined parts focusing specifically on the heavy equipment industry. Over the last several years, Randall has successfully broadened its competitive advantage into the Pump and Cylinder side of the business. This success has resulted in the plan to design and tool the Coldwater facility for this business. The vision is to gear the facility's operations toward the pumping industries, as well as the many different applications within the hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder businesses. Management believes the new facility will in turn enable the company's Lima, Ohio manufacturing facility to increase its focus on the company's core "Heavy Industrial Equipment" business. Management believes that focusing its facilities on specific industries will positively impact the bottom line success of the company's future. Randall will continue to maintain its corporate offices in Lima.
