The Near East Foundation aims to end the cycle of poverty in the Caucasus, Middle East, and North Africa by addressing its root causes through programs that focus on education, community organizing, and economic development.
While helping vulnerable and disenfranchised populations overcome the challenges they face today, we also help families recover their futures. We do this by providing people with the skills and resources to fully engage with their communities and economies.
NEF fosters real change at the grassroots level, through well-established local teams and long-term relationships with local partners. Our in-country staff have a deep understanding of local challenges and opportunities. These experiences and relationships uniquely position NEF to gain access and have an impact where few others can. NEF focuses on three main program areas:
1. Inclusive economic development
2. Climate-resilient development
3. Peacebuilding and stabilization
The Near East Foundation works in Armenia, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Mali, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, and Syria, with support from back offices in Syracuse, NY, Washington DC, and London.
