About
Perrysburg Schools have been recognized over and over again for the excellence of the academic program. Our schools are considered to be among the finest in the state. Students consistently score high on all standardized tests, including the Ohio Department of Education's Achievement Tests. For the 2006-2007 school year, the state awarded the district an Excellent rating on the state report card for the seventh consecutive year. Perrysburg is one of 62 school districts in the state to receive an Excellent rating for five or more years in a row. The district has a total enrollment of over 4,500 students in six school buildings , four elementary schools, a junior high school and a senior high school. The Central Offices are located in the Commodore Building in downtown Perrysburg. The Perrysburg Schools curriculum consists of pre-vocational, career-based instruction, college and technical preparatory. Advanced Placement courses and honors courses are offered in a total of 22 classes. In 2004 the high school also began offering college courses on site through Oberlin College that earn students both high school and college credit. High school students also have the opportunity to take classes at local colleges and universities through the Post-Secondary Option. More than 85 percent of Perrysburg students take a college preparatory curriculum. Perrysburg Schools have outstanding arts programs at all levels. A popular educational option is the Perrysburg Digital Academy, an online charter school run by the Perrysburg Board of Education, where students can take some or all of their classes by computer. The Digital Academy also offers credit recovery courses through the PLATO Learning program with curriculum developed by Perrysburg teachers. Finally, an All-Day Kindergarten program (the additional one-half day is paid through the Digital Academy on a tuition basis) is offered that employs the Waterford Early Literacy Program, a computer program that enhances literacy skills of young students. This year there are 103 students taking part in Digital Academy program. The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accredit all of the Perrysburg Schools. District-wide Accreditation was achieved in 2007. Perrysburg Schools have received the "What Parents Want Award" for the past 11 years from School Match, an independent, nationwide service to help corporate employee families find schools to match the needs of their children. School Match rates Perrysburg Schools in the top 10 percent in the nation. Local, County, State and Federal mandates continue to tighten the purse strings in our school district. Perrysburg Schools continue to look for ways to educate students through researched programs at a cost that will fall within the budget established by the Board of Education.
