The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) aims to be the preeminent national portal representing the Chinese Americans and showcasing their contributions to America’s past, present and future.
Founded in 1980, MOCA engages visitors in an ongoing and historical dialogue, in which people of all backgrounds are able to see American history through a critical perspective, to reflect on their own experiences, and to make meaningful connections between: the past and the present, the global and the local, themselves and others.
The Museum brings 160 years of Chinese American history to vivid life through its innovative exhibitions, educational and public programs, and neighborhood walking tours. Through the expansion to 215 Centre Street, MOCA has greatly increased its range of visitors which include New Yorkers, domestic and international visitors, neighborhood residents, and students and school groups.
