Founded in 1833, Oberlin College was the first college in the US to enroll women on an equal basis with men. The school may be best known for its Conservatory of Music (about 500 students), but it also has a College of Arts and Sciences (about 2,600 enrollees). Students can earn bachelor's degrees in either program, but a student can also earn a five-year double-degree in both. In addition, Obelin offers master's degrees in opera theater, conducting, and historical performance, and it has two-year certificate programs.
