Family owned for over twenty-six years. In 1991, Don Roose opened the doors of Madison House in downtown Winslow, offering the first assisted living community of its kind in Kitsap County. Don had a personal reason for entering the field of senior housing. Maggie, his mother-in-law, had moved south from Alaska into an island home of her own. She wanted to continue living on Bainbridge Island, but her big house was getting just a little too big. So he created Bainbridge Senior Living and built the Madison Avenue House.
