St. Francis Friends of the Poor is a non-profit organization begun by Father John Felice, Father John McVean and Father Tom Walters, who are all Franciscans working with the poor in New York.
In their efforts to care for the poor, and with the help of many individuals like you, they have created three residences that provide a humane and dignified home for street people, the mentally disabled and dependent people who have suffered years of personal and institutional neglect.
The first St. Francis Residence was opened in 1980. It was the first of its kind to offer a comprehensive solution to the problem of homelessness - permanent housing with supportive services. This approach has become an award winning model for programs all over the country. There are now three St. Francis Residences serving almost 300 men and women. All in need are welcome.
